Michelin StarBiography
Nicola Somma was born near Naples, in Gragnano, the cradle of dried pasta known throughout the world, and almost like a prophecy his career embraces those authentic and genuine flavors of childhood.
His passion for cooking manifested itself at a young age, and after attending hotel management school, Nicola began to experiment with his idea of cooking in restaurants on the Sorrento peninsula. The desire to grow and challenge himself led him to move away from his homeland, as Chef Cannavacciuolo had done before him, and their similar stories led them to work side by side in Villa Crespi, on the shores of Lake Orta. The Chef immediately noticed a great passion in him, so much so that he proposed him as the director of the kitchen of his new Cannavacciuolo Bistrot in Turin, opened in 2018. Nicola Somma won his first Michelin star there, confirming all expectations.
2021 is the year of his return home, because he is appointed Head Chef of the Cannavacciuolo Countryside restaurant, in Ticciano, among the Sorrento hills. After just a few months from the opening, the first Michelin star already shines on Laqua Countryside.
